Booking a UK Rail Journey is quick and simple - just follow these 8 steps:

1. Start your search

Select ‘Trains’ from the search menu. Enter your departure and arrival stations, travel dates and times, then click ‘Search’.

2. Review and choose your train options

Your search results will display a range of fares and journey options to help you make the best choice.

  • Outbound and return fares: See single and return fare options side by side for easy comparison.

  • Departure and arrival times: Quickly check when each train leaves and arrives.

  • Duration and stops: See total journey time and the number of stops.

  • Best available fares: Highlights the lowest fare in each category for both one-way and return options. Click on the ‘i’ beside any fare to see the full ticket rules and restrictions.

  • SplitSave: Clearly marks fares where a SplitSave ticket is available.

Once you've found the best train and fares, click Go to Checkout.

3. Confirm journey details

Check all travel details carefully before moving forward.

4. Add any required trip data

Depending on your company’s setup, you may need to add details like cost centre, reason for travel, or project code.

5. Choose your ticket delivery method

Delivery options vary by station, but the most common are:

  • E-ticket: Sent via email, ready to download and scan.

  • Ticket on Departure: Collect from a station ticket machine using the booking reference.

6. Add seating preferences

If available, you can choose preferences like quiet carriage, table seat, direction of travel, or power socket access.

7. Accept terms and conditions

Review the fare conditions, then tick to accept the booking terms.

8. Complete your booking

Click ‘Checkout’ to confirm. You’ll receive your confirmation and ticket details via email shortly!

Heads up! If your company has an approval process, please be aware that UK train bookings are not sent for approval, so be sure to obtain pre-approval before confirming your journey!
