When booking rail travel in Melon, you’ll be able to choose between return or single fares.

Within these, there are three main types of tickets to suit different travel needs:

Advance Fares

  • Discounted ticket prices.

  • Must travel on selected, specific trains.

  • Only available for single tickets (one-way).

  • Changes can only be made before the date and time of the original departure.

  • They are non-refundable!

Off-Peak Fares

  • Flexible tickets for travel during certain hours/times

  • Available for both return and single tickets

  • Travel is only permitted within specified off-peak periods.

Anytime Fares

  • Completely flexible for travel at any time of day

  • Available for both return and single tickets

  • Travel is permitted on any route between your chosen stations without time restrictions.

SplitSave Tickets

Melon also gives you access to SplitSave — a clever way to reduce costs by splitting your journey into separate tickets using a combination of the above fares covering the same route. You’ll still travel on the same train, but pay less by holding multiple tickets.

Important to note: While SplitSave offers savings, ensure you understand the fare conditions for each leg of the journey, especially for changes or cancellations.

Before confirming your booking, click the 'i' next to each fare to view fare details and review all conditions to choose the best option for your trip.
