Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security when you sign in to Melon using your email address and password.

As well as entering your password, you’ll be asked to verify your identity using your email address. This helps protect your Melon account from unauthorised access, even if your password is compromised.

There’s nothing you need to set up. Simply follow the additional verification step when you sign in.

Who uses MFA?

MFA applies to Melon users in EMEA and NORAM who sign in using an email address and password.

This includes password-based accounts used by:

  • Travellers

  • Travel Arrangers

  • Client Admins

If you access Melon using Single Sign-On (SSO), MFA does not apply to you and there is no change to how you sign in.

How does MFA work in Melon?

Start by signing in to Melon using your email address and password as normal.

You’ll then be asked to complete an additional verification step using your email address.

You’ll verify your identity using either:

  • A Magic Link sent to your email address

  • A One-Time Password (OTP) sent to your email address

Once you’ve completed the verification step, you can continue into Melon as normal.

Do I need to set up MFA?

No. There’s nothing you need to set up.

MFA is part of the Melon sign-in process. Simply enter your email address and password as normal and follow the verification instructions when prompted.

What is a Magic Link?

A Magic Link is a secure, one-time link sent to your email address.

Open the link from your email to verify your identity and complete the sign-in process.

The browser you use to open the Magic Link will be signed in to Melon.

What is a One-Time Password?

A One-Time Password, also known as an OTP or verification code, is a short numeric code sent to your email address.

Enter the code into the Melon sign-in screen on the device where you started signing in.

This is useful if you access your email on a different device.

What is the difference between a Magic Link and an OTP?

A Magic Link verifies your identity when you open the secure link sent to your email address.

A One-Time Password (OTP) gives you a numeric verification code to enter into Melon.

Both provide an additional layer of security when signing in.

Do I still need my Melon password?

Yes. Your password is still required.

MFA adds an additional verification step to the existing password-based sign-in process.

Enter your email address and password as normal, then complete the verification step when prompted.

Does MFA change how I make bookings in Melon?

No. MFA only changes how you sign in to Melon.

Once you’re signed in, you can continue to search, book and manage your travel as normal.

Does MFA affect Travel Arrangers?

Yes, if you sign in to Melon using an email address and password.

Complete the MFA verification step when signing in to your own Melon account.

Once signed in, you can continue to use your existing Travel Arranger permissions and book travel for your travellers as normal.

Does MFA affect Admins?

Yes, if you sign in to Melon using an email address and password.

Admins complete the same MFA verification process as other password-based Melon users.

What does 'Log out everywhere' mean?

Log out everywhere is an account security feature that signs you out of active Melon sessions and devices.

You may be signed out of all active sessions when:

  • You reset your password

  • You change your password

  • You select Log out everywhere

  • An Admin revokes your access

If this happens, sign in to Melon again using your email address and password and complete the required verification step.

What happens if I reset or change my password?

Resetting or changing your password signs you out of your existing Melon sessions and devices.

The next time you access Melon, sign in using your email address and password and complete the required verification step.

How does MFA help keep my account secure?

MFA means your password alone is not enough to access your Melon account.

The additional email verification step helps protect your account from unauthorised access if your password is compromised.

Can I use an authenticator app for MFA?

Not currently.

Authenticator app verification is planned as a future enhancement.

Is MFA available in the Melon mobile app?

MFA is not currently available as a native mobile app feature.

Native mobile MFA is planned as a possible future enhancement.
