Out of Policy Badges

When booking travel outside of your company policy guidelines for pricing or other reasons, visual indicators in Melon will provide guidance:

Not Recommended:
The selected booking exceeds policy budget limits, but can still be booked, you would need to provide a reason which will be recorded for reporting purposes.

Out of Policy:

There may be certain options you are not permitted to book online as they are outside your company travel policy (e.g. premium cabins). When you see this symbol, an option is prohibited from online booking. Contact your Expert Travel Consultant for more information if such an option is required.

Requires Approval:

If your company has set up a post-booking approval process, this icon will symbolize booking requires further approval.

Save More with Melon’s Missed Savings Report

Out-of-policy bookings come with a cost that can be difficult to track. To help you save more, Melon offers an efficient reporting solution called the Missed Savings Report. A missed savings report can help clients save money in their travel program by collecting real-time data from travellers/arrangers in out-of-policy bookings.

What is a Missed Savings Report?

It displays out-of-policy bookings (with some exceptions), their reasons, and precisely what each reason costs your program without you having to dig through spreadsheets and data.

Melon Client Admin view of Missed Savings Report:

The process to capture data for a Missed Savings Report is as follows:

  1. The travellers/arrangers can select a reason for booking out-of-policy from the drop-down menu in the Additional Details section of the Checkout page. They can choose from Melon’s default options and write more detail in the additional space if they want to.

  2. Melon displays this data in a detailed report for your company Client Admins to see exactly how much each reason costs your travel program. This way, you can better understand the source of your overall cost and strategize how to save more.

For full details on your company's specific travel policies, refer to the travel policy link in Melon. You can access these on the Melon homepage and within each product search results page - just look out for the following link.
